June 11 shop the hub - Made with PosterMyWall.jpg

Saturday, June 11 will be a great day to get out and Shop The Hub for Grads & Dads!  Residents and neighbors are encouraged to save the date; Westwood businesses are encouraged to register as a participant.  This Shop The Hub also coincides with the Westwood Clergy Council’s Juneteenth celebration (10 a.m.-3 p.m., Veterans’ Park) and the Westwood portion of the Creative Bergen Arts Amble (4-8 p.m. Veterans’ Park).

Celebrate Westwood created "Shop the Hub" days in Spring 2020 as a way to create the spirit of a sidewalk sale in which many businesses participate toward a common goal, without needing to close the streets.  Past participants have set up merchandise or activity tables along the sidewalk adjacent to their storefront, created sales or highlighted already ongoing promotions and menu items, and have invited unique pop-up experiences! Sales, specials, and sips at the discretion of individual businesses.

For businesses to take full advantage of publicity and marketing for the event provided by Celebrate Westwood and The Westwood Chamber of Commerce, registration must be completed by Friday, May 27: www.tinyurl.com/registerShopTheHub    Businesses can opt in to all the remaining 2022 Shop the Hub events with one click, and receive a discount on the nominal fee levied to cover materials (flyers and oversized mylar balloons to mark participation). The Westwood Chamber of Commerce is offering discounts for Shop The Hub participation for all paid, active members. Please note that businesses that already registered for the full year of events do NOT need to re-register.

On Saturday, June 11 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. as part of the 2nd Annual Creative Bergen Arts Amble, Celebrate Westwood will be hosting local photographers, illustrators, painters, crafters, musicians and other types of creative and performing artists from Westwood and neighboring towns.

Last year, more than 20 artists and musicians participated in the Westwood portion of the Creative Bergen Arts Amble including a performance from the Adelphi Orchestra, who have once again signed on to bring a family friendly program to Veterans Park. New for this year, artists will be permitted to sell their work in the park for a small registration fee.

Inspired by art crawls around the country, Creative Bergen’s Arts Amble is a three day countywide event, taking place in towns across Bergen County.  Art lovers should mark their calendars for Friday, June 10th through Sunday, June 12th to join in on this family-friendly, fun-filled weekend of arts and culture where they can explore local galleries, arts festivals, and studios and take in all Bergen County has to offer. Artists of a variety of mediums are participating in this event with paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, dance, theater, live book readings, musicians, singers, and more. The Arts Amble is a free event, and open to the public. Standard hours are 10 am - 5 pm all three days, unless otherwise noted.  Details on all venues can be found at www.ArtsAmble.org.  To register to participate as an artist in Westwood, fill out the format https://tinyurl.com/artsamblewestwoodThe deadline to register is May 20th.

Celebrate Westwood is seeking musicians, performers and artists for the 2022 Arts on the Avenues season starting in June and continuing through October 2022.  Dancers, musicians, theater actors, live visual performers, fine arts demonstrators, and other types of street performers are invited to submit an application to be considered for Arts on the Avenues. Artists do not need to be Westwood residents, however, local applicants will be given priority of selection.

Last year, Westwood Avenue was filled with the musical talents of Arts on the Avenues newcomers Talia Green, Kyle Towey, and Steffani Bette along with veterans Gordo, Liv Lion, Theresa Abou-Daoud and jazz guitarist Sam Bernhardt.  Veterans Park was the stage for local bands Mama D & The Vexations, The Darla Hood Band and Dark Beauty as well as theatrical and musical productions from local theater groups.  Visual artists were invited to show their work downtown as well as participate in art fairs including Lunch on the Lawn and The Bergen County Arts Amble.

Think you want to grab your guitar, dancing shoes, or props and join Celebrate Westwood?  Program and application details can be found here. Application is live now, with a rolling deadline.

Celebrate Westwood looks forward to an exciting spring, summer, and fall lineup of art, music, dance and more in downtown Westwood, the Hub of the Pascack Valley!
